Theatre

Abhrajit grew up in the part of Kolkata, Bengal, where theatre practice is an every house affair. He has been an actor in theatre and television since the age of ten. He was a regular member of his school's drama club and has been part of countless theatre productions during his school life. He started writing and directing plays in high school. He has won a lot of awards in theatre competitions, including The British Council Theatre Competition, Patton One-Act Play competition, to name a few. Later he found the theatre & performing arts group - Whole 9 Yards, which has over the years have become a film, theatre & music company.  Abhrajit  & his company Whole 9 Yards have brought innovative forms into the theatre of Kolkata. Tram theatre, cafe theatre, cafe musical theatre, digital musical theatre, food and theatre, and other site-specific experimental forms of theatre have been done and introduced by him in the Bengal theatre scene. He represented Kolkata/India at the Impulse Theatre festival 2019, Germany,  in Goethe Institut/Max Muller Bhavan’s visitor's program for his contributions to Kolkata Theatre.
